If possible I would like to keep all the data on the disk, if not then as long as I can trigger the Hidden recovery partition I'm happy. My Mini is working great, and I'm pretty happy with it thus far. Linux - 1GB should do fine. It's nice to have it available - might need it someday.

Sometimes you need to completely reformat the flash drive and add all of the installation files to it again. You just have to delete the original 2 partition drive that comes with the vista.
