I suspect it is a hard drive fault and the unit will have to be replaced. I had not put the AV cables on right, and now as long as I have a good signal indicated in the info bar, it works fine. Even though I could view a channel and it looked fine, if the signal strength was poor I could not view a recording. I only had it a couple of weeks when I packed it away while Cyclone Yasi was heading for us in Townsville. When I set it back up I had this "error loading media file" message as well when I tried to record, especially from the Guide, not live.
